Culture, History, and Business
Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands and the most populous city in the country as well. Starting off as just a small fishing village in the river Amstel, the city became one of the most important ports in the world. This later helped Amsterdam become a leader in the area for finance and trade, which led to the opening of the first stock exchange in the world – the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
Today, Amsterdam is considered an alpha world city, one of the highest ranks given to leading economic forces in the world. It’s also the most versatile city when it comes to nationalities, hosting over 180 different nationalities from all over the world.
Amsterdam is a unique opportunity for investors to invest in a leading city in the world, while not having to spend a huge amount of money as you would in other metropolises. Most property types here are condos, with a few townhouses where wealthy Dutch live here and there.
As the population in Amsterdam are predominantly young families, students, and expats, there is a high demand for rentals, so the most sought-after option for investors is rental properties. Although most of the residential properties were older buildings built in the 17th century, the Government’s efforts to renew the city have made Amsterdam a city with one of the most stunning architectures in Europe.
