In southwestern Europe, between France and Portugal, is Spain. Its most southern point is the Strait of Gibraltar, a waterway between Europe and the African country Morocco. Spain occupies roughly 85% of the Iberian Peninsula and borders the North Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. With its Mediterranean dry climate, hot summers, and mostly mild rainy winters, it is home to almost 47 million people. 

Spain’s numerous holiday spots, beautiful architecture, warm people, delicious local foods, and rich cultural heritage are the reasons why it became the leader in the tourism market. Tourism is an important factor in real estate. That’s why investors should be aware of whether there is an increase in demand for housing in tourist areas. 

Having said that, 2019 was a success for Spain’s tourism. Reaching 83,7 million visitors, Spain became the second most popular tourist destination. On the other hand, 2020 was the year of the pandemic, the worst year that Spain’s tourism market has ever experienced. In 2021, we saw Spain recovering in a way, with a 78.3% increase and a total of 4.4 million arrivals in July.

Is it worth to invest in Real Estate in Spain?  

Spain’s housing market is cooling rapidly, despite five years of modest price increases, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, as yields rise, Spain is once again a viable investment option. In the year leading up to the third quarter of 2020, house prices in Spain increased by only 1.68%, a significant decrease from the previous year’s 4.68% increase. In Q3 of 2020, the price of a home increased by 1.15% quarterly. According to forecasts, house prices in Spain are expected to stabilize in the upcoming year.

In general, investing in Spanish real estate offers undoubtedly high returns, as well as significant room for expansion. The real estate market in Spain includes a variety of properties such as ordinary apartments or houses, cottages, wineries, retail space, and more. 

Other than that, today’s cosmopolitan and modern cities like Barcelona and Madrid stand out because of their state-of-the-art infrastructure, culture and history, and robust economies. Furthermore, Alicante, Malaga, the Canary Islands, and the Balearic Islands are just a few other coastal locales with great potential. Therefore, real estate investing in Spain is beneficial due to its high profitability, growing demand for rental properties, and excellent quality of life.
