Fresno has always been a place of business as the original inhabitants made a living from trading agricultural produce. Also, in recent times, most of the rural cities encircling the city of Fresno have continued production of agricultural merchandise on a large scale. The economy of the city is stabilized by the numerous employers of labor, which sustains its 500,000 residents.
